Welcome to Endive
by Con Chapman |
| Description |
"Welcome to Endive" is a slice-of-life look at
three couples' evening in a restaurant. Judy
Balser commiserates with her husband's career
woes until he can stand her sympathy no longer.
Truman and Delia, a sophisticated but obtuse
unmarried couple, discuss their prospects in
light of Truman's impending divorce from his
wife. Two unnamed women exchange their views on
men over wine, salad and chocolate cake.
"Welcome to Endive" is a companion piece to "The
5:05" in that each involves characters who are
strangers to each other and in some cases
nameless to the audience. One of the two women
in the last-described couple is the woman who
receives news that her boyfriend is breaking up
with her by a cell phone call she makes from the
train in "The 5:05." |
